Hannah Meier of Grosse Pointe South, who won two individual events and anchored two first-place relay teams at the Division 1 state finals, was named the Gatorade Michigan Girls Track & Field Athlete of the Year.
Meier, a junior, won the 800- and 1600-meter runs, and she was part of winning 1600 and 3200 relay teams as Grosse Pointe South repeated as the state champion.
Meier's Blue Devils team won the championship of the Macomb Area Conference White Division.
Meier has a 3.85 GPA.
