MCC basketball teams honored
Coming off of the first MCCAA Eastern Conference Championship since the 1997-1998 season, the Macomb women’s basketball team received several honors.
Coach Jay Ritchie was named MCCAA Eastern Conference Coach of the Year following a 17-1 conference record and 22-8 overall record. Dominique Mahone (Detroit Denby) was named District H Player of the Year, Eastern Conference Defensive Player of the Year, Eastern Conference Freshman of the Year, All-Region, All-MCCAA, All-Eastern Conference First Team, All-Defensive Team, and All-Freshman Team.
Precious Allen (Michigan Collegiate) was named All-Region, All-MCCAA, and All-Eastern Conference First Team. Kristian Hines (Fitzgerald) was named All-Eastern Conference Third Team.
The Macomb men’s basketball team improved from a 2-14 record in the MCCAA Eastern Conference to a 9-9 record in one season. The team qualified for the District 9 Tournament. Ashton Curd (Madison) was named All-Eastern Conference Second Team and All-Freshman Team. Patrick Ferrell (L’Anse Creuse North) was named All-Eastern Conference Honorable Mention.
