East Detroit High bowlers were on a roll this season

Nobody connected with the East Detroit High School girls’ bowling team was singing the Blues this season.

Coach Cheryl DeFrance’s Shamrocks finished their best season in the seven-year history of the program by co-championing the MAC Blue Division with Dakota, each finishing with 11-1 records during the league season.
The Shamrocks also had success in tournament play winning once and finishing well in others.
East Detroit finished second at the regional meet in Taylor, and qualified for the team state meet in Battle Creek. Two bowlers, seniors Ashley Smith (second place) and Samantha Cisneros (10th place) also qualified for the individual state meet.
The Shamrocks performed very well at the state meet, too, but fell just short of the final round. They were in 10th place, and the top eight teams advanced.
Joining DeFrance on the coaching staff was assistant Kira DeFrance. The East Detroit bowlers were senior Catelin Campbell, senior Samantha Cisneros, sophomore Sarah Corbit, junior Haley Jugowicz, sophomore Alyssa Komlenovich, junior Kaitlyn Palmer and Ashley Smith, a senior.
