Ford to name basketball court in Barker's honor

Jim Barker, who coached boys basketball at Ford for more than 30 years, will be honored by the school when the Falcons court is named in his honor, the Utica schools board of education said.
"I'm awed by this," Barker said.
Barker was named the Macomb County Coach of the Year four times while he was with the Falcons, and he won the honor a fifth time when he guided Parkway Christian.
His Ford teams won more than 500 games. Barker is a member of several halls of fame, including the Macomb County Coaches.
A date for the unveiling of "Coach Barker Court" has not been determined.
