Thursday night highlights: Muskegon bounces back
Week 2 of the high school football season was wild across the state of Michigan.
After winning an opening week showdown against western Michigan power Muskegon, Dakota suffered a 17-10 setback to Romeo. Meanwhile, Muskegon bounced back with a 59-6 triumph over Grand Rapids Ottawa Hills as the Big Reds piled up 303 rushing yards.
In a night featuring plenty of high-scoring games, Hazel Park survived a shootout with Auburn Hills Avondale and prevailed 58-50 behind Dakota Ogles’ seven touchdowns.
Canton crushed Grand Blanc 62-20, ending Grand Blanc’s 15-game regular-season winning streak.
Elk Rapids stopped a late two-point conversion try to upend Kingsley 41-40, and Capac edged Almont on a late TD by Aaron Sammut.
